Preserving nature and wildlife in CNY
Our mission:
Expand and enhance the Central New York wetlands for local wildlife. Convert pasture fields to conservation grasses with wild flower mixes. Grow over 8,000 feet of hedgerows with open grasslands. Grow variety of conifers, flowering and berry trees and bushes to maximize shelter and food sources. Create a natural living space for native wildlife and help migratory birds or animals to breed and live peacefully.
Add one or more water bearing holes to the North side of the reserve.
Thousands of trees need to be planted. Some including, but not limited to:
N. White Cedar
Balsam Fur
White Pine
Norway Spruce
White Spruce
Thousands of shrubs need to be planted - roughly 8,000 feet worth. Some including, but not limited to:
Yellow Burch
Serviceberry
Winterberry
Goal of 3 bird houses per acre for song birds. Wood duck nest boxes around water bearing holes.
Trees for Tribs Grant Program:
Plant more trees or shrubs along stream corridors (riparian areas).
